Most important: Swim suit, team cap, and goggles.
Sometimes an extra cap and goggles are good to have, in case the first
ones break or get lost.
Baby or talcum powder, to "dust" the inside
of the swim cap. This helps preserve the cap and makes it easier to
put on.
Towels. Realize your swimmer will be there a while so pack
at least two.
Something to sit on: for example; sleeping bag,
old blanket, anything comfortable. The swimmer will be spending a
lot of time on it.
Warm/dry clothes, for example sweats. Each swimmer
may want to bring two sets, because they get wet and soggy.
T-shirts.
Two or three for the same reasons as above.
Games, books, magazines,
travel games, coloring books, a deck of cards, homework, anything
to pass the time while you wait between events.
Food. Each swimmer
is usually allowed to bring a cooler. It is a good idea to bring snacks.
There are usually concessions at the meets, but the lines are long
and they may have some items that you would rather your swimmer did
not eat.
Suggestions: fruit juice, water bottle, Gatorade, fresh fruit,
dried fruit, fruit snacks, cheese/crackers, yogurt, veggies and dip,
trail mix, dry cereal, Jell-O cubes, rice crispytreats, sandwiches.
Avoid junk food such as soda, fried food, chips, and high sugar items.
